LAU Librarians are available to provide course pack consultation services to faculty. This service aims to assist faculty in developing and maintaining currency and compliance in their course reading list materials. By leveraging LAU Libraries resources, the cost to students for a course’s reading materials may be reduced or eliminated.
Specifically, faculty seeking to ensure their courses are built on recent and accessible supplementary material may request the following:
Review of existing reading lists
- Inform about newer editions
- Recommend alternative material — both electronic and print — within the LAU Libraries collection
- Recommend supplementary material across a variety of media (podcasts, videos, etc.)
- Provide links to works that are legally available
- Scan portions of print materials
Review of material on Blackboard
- Copyright compliance
- Compliance with TEACH Act best practices
- Compliance with “Fair Use” policies
We also review course syllabi for recommendations on open educational resources to supplement planned activities.
Applications are considered on a rolling basis during the academic year. To benefit from this service, faculty members are required to:
- Complete a Course Pack Consultation Form
- Submit their request 10 days before the due date to reference@lau.edu.lb
- Share the course syllabus

While the LAU Libraries are always happy to consult with faculty on the use of copyrighted material, final responsibility for the appropriate use and dissemination of materials rests with the faculty.
